ENGRAVED STAINING

Engraved Staining is a classical decorating using the unique decorating staining technique, typical for the north of Bohemia. The yellow stain technology has been known since the 11th century AD. However, Bedøich Egermann, a local native, in the 20s and 30s of the 19th century invented the red stain and this decorating technique made him famous all over Europe and overseas. It was Bedøich Egermann who started to use the motif of a shell, deer and a chateau and so the world known decorating has adopted the name of its author forever.

Staining is a complicated physico-chemical process during which the elements of silver or copper thrust into glass surface at high temperature and these cause its tinge several tens of microns under own glass surface. Despite of the coloured layer thinness it is constant and sanitary wholesome. Subsequently a glasscutter and a decorator who create their own wheel-cut process the product and engraved decorating.
